It's also a good acid test to ensure that clients are just crazy enough to make a project interesting in a fun way.

I know, right?!

If I had to teach an undergraduate design studio, I'd sit all the students in a circle and ask them to design a house for the student sitting to their right, while taking on the role of the client for the student sitting to their left. The exercise of having to design for someone else while at the same time, seeing someone design for you, could do wonders to embed the client-architect distinction that is so important for tailored projects.
